Just Me

For the past five years, I’ve had the incredible privilege of photographing people in some of the biggest, smallest, happiest, messiest, most beautiful moments of their lives.

And I still love every single story I get to capture.

My photography is grounded in cinematic storytelling because that’s what speaks to me. I don’t just want to create beautiful photographs — I want to create images that feel like something. The kind that transport you back to exactly who you were, who you loved, and what life felt like in that moment.

Because life moves ridiculously fast.

Babies grow. Families change. Kids become teenagers. Wedding days that took months to plan are suddenly memories. The ordinary seasons we think we'll remember forever somehow become blurry around the edges.

I see my job as freezing a little piece of that life for you.

So years from now, you can look at a photograph and remember.

Not just what it looked like.

What it felt like.

Why Photography Means So Much to Me

Photographs have always played a huge role in my own life.

My family has used photography to tell our story for as long as I can remember. Those photographs have become pieces of our history — reminders of people, places, relationships, celebrations, ordinary days and entire chapters of life that otherwise might have faded with time.

I know what it feels like to hold a photograph and suddenly be transported somewhere else.

That’s what I want to give the people who step in front of my camera.

Your photographs aren't just for Instagram or the Christmas card this year. They're for the version of you twenty years from now. They're for your children. Someday, maybe they're for their children.

You’re creating the visual history of your family — and I get to help you tell it.

That means more to me than I can adequately put into words.

The Woman Behind the Camera

When I’m not carrying a camera, life is… well, not exactly quiet.

I'm a mom, a political wife, and a crazy dog mom — emphasis on the crazy dog part. Our house is full, our schedules are fuller, and there's usually at least one enormous dog somewhere he absolutely should not be.

And yes, this is Tomich.

Look at that face. I rest my case.

I love traveling, beautiful light, a good story, things that are a little spooky, and finding an excuse to turn an idea in my head into something real.

Which brings me to...

I Need to Make Art, Too.

Storytelling is the heart of what I do, but creating purely for the sake of creating feeds a completely different part of my soul.

Give me an unusual idea and I'm probably already figuring out how we can photograph it.

Halloween sessions? Absolutely.

Standing in water to make something dreamy and ethereal? I'm in.

Fairies? Cinematic characters? Moody concepts? Elaborate sets? Something completely weird that starts with, "Okay, hear me out..."?

YES.

My creative sessions give me room to experiment, play with light, push myself artistically and make photographs that don't necessarily have to fit neatly into a box.

That creativity follows me back into every wedding, family and portrait session I photograph. It keeps me curious. It keeps me growing.

And most importantly, it keeps me completely in love with photography.

My Philosophy

I meet you where you are.

I don't believe your photographs should look exactly like the session I photographed yesterday — because you're not the people I photographed yesterday.

Every person, couple and family who steps in front of my camera brings their own story.

Some couples are wildly affectionate. Some show love through tiny glances and inside jokes. Some families are quiet and tender. Others are beautiful chaos. Some kids want absolutely nothing to do with my carefully planned ideas, and frankly, those kids usually give me some of my favorite photographs.

I'm not interested in forcing you into somebody else's story.

I'm interested in yours.

That's why you'll notice that every gallery I deliver looks a little different. There is a thread that runs through my work — warmth, emotion, movement, connection and cinematic storytelling — but I'm not a cookie-cutter photographer.

I want your photographs to reflect you and this exact moment in your life.

I'll guide you when you need it. I'll fix the weird hand. I'll find the good light. I'll give you something to do when suddenly you've forgotten how human beings normally stand.

And then I'll give you room to be yourselves.

Because somewhere between the beautiful portraits and the ridiculous laughing fits are the photographs that feel like you.

Those are the ones I'm always looking for.

A Few Things You Should Probably Know About Me

I will cry.

Wedding vows? Crying. A quiet romantic exchange when you think nobody is watching? Probably crying. Babies?

Don't even get me started on the babies.

I am obsessed with black & white photographs.
Every session gets at least a few. There is something timeless about stripping away the color and leaving nothing but light, emotion and connection, and I will never get over it.

Chocolate and I are in a toxic relationship.
My lips love it. My hips hate it. And yet somehow we keep finding our way back to each other.

I will absolutely say something stupid to make you laugh.
I love cutting up with my clients. Sessions don't need to feel stiff or overly serious, and I'm perfectly willing to sacrifice my dignity if that's what it takes to get the real laugh.

I'm always looking for the story.
The hand squeeze. The glance. Dad trying not to cry. The toddler doing something completely unhinged in the background. Grandma watching from across the room. The moment right after the "official" moment when everyone relaxes.

Those little pieces are your life, too.

And I want you to have them.

At the End of the Day...

I really, truly love what I do.

I love the beautiful portraits. I love the weird ideas. I love wedding-day chaos and sleepy newborn snuggles. I love watching families grow and getting invited back into their lives year after year.

But more than anything, I love giving people proof that their lives were beautiful while they were busy living them.

That's what I hope you feel when you look through your photographs.

I hope you see yourselves.

I hope you remember how it felt.

And I hope that twenty years from now, those images mean even more to you than they do today.

Okay, Enough About Me.

Tell me about you.

Tell me who you love, what season of life you're in, what you want to remember, or what completely wild idea you've been dreaming about.

Whatever your story looks like right now, I'd love to help you tell it.
